Novena To The Holy Souls In Purgatory
Oh, holy souls in purgatory, you are the certain heirs of heaven. You are most dear to Jesus as the trophies of His Precious Blood and to Mary, Mother of Mercy. Obtain for me through your intercession the grace to lead a holy life, to die a happy death and to attain to the blessedness of eternity in heaven.
Dear suffering souls, who long to be delivered in order to praise and glorify God in heaven, by your unfailing pity help me in the needs which distress me at this time, particularly…so that I may obtain relief and assistance from God.
In gratitude for your intercession, I offer to God in your behalf the satisfactory merits of my prayer and work, my joys and sufferings of this day (week, month, or whatever space of time you wish to designate).

What would you do to get out of a fire?
Some of our beloved dead need help to do just that.
Since one must be completely pure in order to enter Heaven, with all temporal punishment due to sin erased, it is a mercy of God that such a place as Purgatory exists so that, in justice, amends are made to the One we have offended. Otherwise, Hell would be the only option if one is not fit for Heaven. The Holy Souls are holy, because their salvation is assured, but they are also known as the Poor Souls because they cannot pray for themselves and have no way of paying their debt.
Will you help them?
They can and do pray for their benefactors, i.e. all those who pray and sacrifice to release them from Purgatory. It has been said that the Souls in Purgatory have a greater hearing from God than the Saints in Heaven and that, once in Heaven themselves, they do not forget those who have helped them to get there.
Join us then in a Novena of Holy Hours for the Poor Souls, every evening 7-8 p.m., November 16-24, 2025, which will include the following: exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, the Holy Rosary and Divine Mercy Chaplet, along with talks on a different aspect of Purgatory each night: Day 1 (November 16th) – Mary, Mother of Mercy and the Holy Souls; Day 2 (17th) – St. Joseph and the Holy Souls; Day 3 (18th) –St. Michael and the Holy Souls; Day 4 (19th) – The Guardian Angels and the Holy Souls; Day 5 (20th) – The Saints’ devotion to the Holy Souls; Day 6 (21st) – St. Therese’s spirituality regarding Purgatory; Day 7 (22nd) – Indulgenced Prayers and how they help the Holy Souls; Day 8 (23rd) – The Holy Sacrifice of the Mass and its efficacy for the Holy Souls; and Day 9 (24th) – Why is November dedicated to helping the Holy Souls?
Also: From November 22-24, the oldest Veronica will be available for the veneration of the faithful – see extra sheet explaining this relic of the Holy Face of Jesus. We have been asking the Holy Souls’ help in building Him a Chapel!

NOVENA TO CHRIST THE KING
O Christ Jesus, I acknowledge Thee King of the Universe. All that has been made has been created for Thee. Make full use of Thy rights over me. I renew the promises I made in Baptism, when I renounced Satan and all his pomps and works, and I promise to live a good Christian life; and especially I undertake to help, to the extent of my means, to secure the triumph of the rights of GOD and of Thy Church. Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer Thee my efforts to obtain that all hearts may acknowledge Thy Sacred Royalty, and that so the Kingdom of Thy peace may be established throughout the entire universe. Amen.
(For the intentions of all, making this novena, recite: Our Father; Hail Mary; Glory be to the Father, etc.)
Jesus, King and center of all hearts, through the advent of Thy Kingdom, grant us peace. Amen.
Possible Novena Dates: October 18-26 (EF)*, November 15-23 (OF), December 3-11 (Marking the Centenary this year of Quas Primas, the Proclamation of Pope Pius XI on Dec. 11, 1925, establishing the Feast of Christ the King)
“The Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe (Christ the King) was established by Pope Pius XI in 1925 and is intended to proclaim in a striking and effective manner Christ’s royalty over individuals, families, society, governments, and nations.
This feast establishes the titles for Christ’s royalty over men:
- Christ is God, the Creator of the universe and hence wields a supreme power over all things; ‘All things were created by Him’;
- Christ is our Redeemer, He purchased us by His Precious Blood, and made us His property and possession;
- Christ is Head of the Church, ‘holding in all things the primacy’;
- God bestowed upon Christ the nations of the world as His special possession and dominion.
This also describes the qualities of His kingdom:
- supreme, extending not only to all people but also to their princes and kings;
- universal, extending to all nations and to all places;
- eternal, for ‘The Lord shall sit a King forever’;
- spiritual, Christ’s ‘kingdom is not of this world.’ “ (Rt. Rev. Msgr. Rudolph G. Gandas)
*We apologize for the lateness of this notice for those in the Extraordinary Form as we had a death in our family, our beloved foundress, Mother Marie Therese of the Child Jesus. We ask the charity of your prayers for the repose of her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, who will be remembered in a special novena of holy hours at our monastery: see reverse side for details. May they soon be welcomed, if not there already, into the eternal reign of Christ Our King with all His Saints!
